Day Training
Do you ever think: “If only someone else could train my dog during the day when I’m at work or on vacation?”
Did you ever want to train your dog, but simply cannot find the time?
Now there is an answer for your dilemma...
Day Training offered by C&C PALS, in conjunction with boarding or doggie daycare at Old Dominion Animal Health Center.
The Day Training program combines the training expertise of C&C PALS, one of the leading canine training companies in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, with Old Dominion Animal Health Center, a leading veterinary hospital and an experienced boarding facility and doggie daycare program.
We meet with you ahead of time and design a custom training plan to fit your needs and schedule. C&C PALS’ Day Training lays a solid foundation for your dog. We can work on various behaviors such as: focus, name recognition, sit, down, coming when called, down stay and sit stay, off and take it, no jumping, controlled loose leash walking, no mouthing (for puppies).
Due to the nature of Day Training, we are unable to address more serious behavior issues such as aggression, separation anxiety, and resource guarding. But C&C PALS does offer individualized behavior consultations and private lesson series in your home with the owner that can help you and your dog deal with such difficult and problematic issues. Please review Personalized Offerings.
The program can be combined with either doggie daycare or boarding at the ODAH Center.
When you arrive to pick up your dog you will be given a written summary of the various behaviors that were worked on and an overview of your dog’s progress.
Also, it is important to have a session with you and your dog to train you in the cues, etc. with which we have been training, so you can be consistent at home when working with your dog.
All exercises are taught using a positive, motivational approach, using a reward marker (word or clicker) to mark appropriate behavior. To stop inappropriate behavior (e.g. jumping up) we remove something that the dog wants (e.g. attention). There is no use of force or coercion. Our training methods are based on years of study of animal learning theory by scientists such as B.F. Skinner and Pavlov and then applied to various animals by renowned behaviorists and trainers such as Bob Bailey, Ian Dunbar, Jean Donaldson and Pamela Reid.
